Wednesday, January 13th, 2010Just Tell Us What You Need
Thursday, January 7th, 2010“When a Guest called one Sunday morning with a complaint about a squeaky mattress in their vacation home, we didn’t ask any questions. We just got them a new one,” General Manager Tim Deputy says with his usual laugh. “What others consider odd, we consider routine.”
“You never know what you’ll run into – or what will run into you. We had some Guests arrive in an RV being towed by a huge wrecker. You’d have thought they’d have the RV towed to a shop, but they were so anxious to start enjoying Sun-N-Fun, they had the tow bring them here. It wasn’t easy maneuvering two vehicles that large into a spot, but we did. The next morning Mike, from our Welcome Center, found a mobile RV repair shop to do their repairs. “Our Guests didn’t miss a minute of pool time,” according to Tim.
“We believe in putting ourselves in our Guests’ shoes. Whether they’re park model owners, RVers, or renters, they just want to get set up and start enjoying the Resort and all that’s here. Our job is to make that happen – make sure their stay is turnkey. It is just part of being mindful and responsive to their needs.”
“Like the time someone pulled in driving a new RV with a huge slide out. To make room for it, one of our Maintenance Team got out and did some quick landscaping on a tree so everything could fit. No problem. Or when a disabled Guest who came as part of a rally needed to be placed next to the handicapped bath. We were happy to accommodate, but doing that and keeping everyone attending the rally together was like working out a Rubik’s Cube. But we did it,” Tim says, with obvious pride in his Team.
“Then there are those times when a Team Member goes that extra mile and anticipates what would make a Guest happy. Like the time Kevin, our poolside bartender, overheard a couple talking about their little one’s birthday and not being able to have a party for him. Or so they thought. Kevin surprised the whole family later that day with a party that even included a cake.”
It’s that quality that Tim looks for when hiring. “We want people who want to make other people happy. We can teach skills, we can’t teach attitude. What’s great is the Team is always happy to help, and that attitude carries over to our Guests. It’s a big part of what makes Sun-N-Fun such a special place.”

Thanks for Sharing the Spirit of the Season
Thursday, January 7th, 2010A big thanks to the more than 75 guests who dropped off presents at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast Angel Tree in the office this holiday season. You truly were “Angels” to a great bunch of kids.
We also want to thank all our guests and team members who contributed to the All Faiths Food Bank at the big food collection box in our Welcome Center. And while the holiday season may be over, our spirit of giving goes on as we continue to collect for the Food Bank for those that need our help in the community.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Children of All Ages, Step Right This Way… The Howard Bros. Miniature Circus at the Ringling Museum is an absolutely one-of-a-kind attraction. Its 44,000 pieces include 8 main tents, nearly 4500 circus visitors, performers, musicians and workers and 800 animals. Built to scale, the 3800 sq. ft. exhibit is one and a half times the length of a football field – actual size, it would cover 16 to 20 acres!
